【Tochigi】If we produce quality seedlings, we can harvest even without saying a word!

A strawberry farmer who grows “Tochiotome” in “Strawberry Kingdom, Tochigi Prefecture”.
He has 25 years of experience in strawberry cultivation.
He has deep knowledge of strawberry cultivation and has his own ideas about cultivation.

Why did you introduce Nano Bubbles?

Around 2016, we faced trouble with anthracnose during summer seedling cultivation. It was at this point that we heard about a case from a fellow farmer who shared, “Using Kakuichi’s Nano Bubbles generator, the trees became healthier, and the disease was alleviated”.

Believing that roots serve as the foundation for plants, and that sturdy roots contribute to the development of disease-resistant seedlings, we felt that directly supplying oxygen to the roots would be beneficial. This belief ultimately led us to adopt the technology.

How has the impact of Nano Bubbles been?

Since implementing NB, with each passing growing season, our seedlings have consistently shown remarkable improvement. The newfound strength and robust root development in these seedlings are vastly different from those of previous years, resulting in resilient, healthy plants less susceptible to diseases.

Even after transplanting into the main field, the plants continue to thrive, maintaining robust health. Additionally, when used for irrigation in the main field, the time for strawberries to ripen, which previously took around 2-3 days before NB, has now reduced to 1-2 days post-implementation, leading to increased yields.

Correspondingly, the irrigation frequency has also decreased. Before NB, we used to irrigate every 5-7 days, but after NB, we have reduced it to approximately once every 7-10 days.

How do you approach fertilization and irrigation?

Considering that plants primarily absorb nutrients through their roots, I believe that if the roots are thick, strong, and in a healthy state, the above-ground components will naturally flourish.

I focus on cultivating robust roots, bases the application of Nano Bubbles and adjusts plant growth through factors such as irrigation volume, supplemental fertilization, and temperature regulation.

I keep the irrigation frequency low, about once a week, because overwatering will reduce the flavor.
I also irrigate targeting the fine roots, and try to keep the soil surface dry because I feel that if it is constantly wet, the main root, which is the heart of the plant, will rot.

For future

Year after year, the quality of the plants has been steadily improving, and I am very satisfied with the current effects of Nano Bubbles. Considering the condition of my back, the current yield achieved with the existing effort is just right for me, so I’m not aiming for further ambitious goals at the moment.
